The northern stretch, with its unique nature, offers exciting river courses and beautiful lakes all along the Gudenåen.
Nature and large trees surround the Gudenå River and provide a fantastic experience to sail through. On the northern stretch from Klostermølle to Randers, the experience on the Gudenåen is a wonderful combination of sailing on the narrow river courses and through large and small lakes. With many sights along the northern part of the Gudenåen, there are plenty of opportunities to moor and explore nature and the surrounding towns.
On the northern stretch are the much talked about Silkeborg Lakes, located in the unique Lake Highlands. The Silkeborg Lakes include Himmelbjerget, Slåensø, Paradisøerne and Klüwers Kanal, which runs to Avnsø/Brillerne. There are plenty of accommodation options around Silkeborg and the lakes. There is everything from primitive tent sites and well-equipped campsites to hostels and hotels. In the Silkeborg area alone, there are plenty of opportunities for a wonderful canoeing holiday, with many experiences, nature and sights.
Going on a day trip? The obvious place to start is at Silkeborg Harbour, where we have our base. From here you can spend the day on the Silkeborg Lakes and end an eventful day at Silkeborg Harbour. You also have the option to start at Silkeborg Harbour and sail north, where, after a scenic day, you can end the trip at Kongensbro Teltplads, for example.
In contrast to the southern part of the Gudenåen, it is possible to canoe or kayak on the northern part of the Gudenåen all year round. You can use our booking system to book your trip in Denmark's most beautiful nature as early as spring.

We are the largest canoe and kayak hire company on the Gudenåen river and we have a large selection of canoe trips, kayak trips, one-day trips and multi-day trips. In our booking system you can see and read more about the many tours we have starting from the northernmost part of the Gudenåen. Plan your trip
At Silkeborg Kanocenter you have the opportunity to start and end your trip along the entire Gudenåen river. To make it easier for you, we've selected some of our customers' absolute favourite one-day and multi-day trips that you can both book and use as inspiration for your next canoe or kayak trip.
There are many starting points along the banks of the Gudenå River from which you can choose to start your trip. The starting points on the northern stretch are between Klostermølle and Randers. The most popular starting points on this stretch are Ry and Silkeborg.
Many of the starting and ending points along the Gudenåen are also accommodation centres. There are many cosy campsites, some of which are more primitive than others. There are also many campsites with a variety of facilities for both adults and children. On the northern stretch, there are also several hotels, inns and hostels where you can stay overnight. Several of the accommodations are located in towns along the Gudenåen. The largest of these is Silkeborg, where, in addition to a rich commercial and urban life, there are also opportunities for cultural experiences and sights.
We have compiled an overview of all start and end points, as well as all accommodation options along the entire Gudenå River, from Tørring in the south to Randers in the north.

Our Family Packages are especially designed for families and families with young children, where the trip is planned for you in advance, with fixed accommodation with tents pitched and ready for you on arrival. The overnight stays are at family-friendly campsites with plenty of space for play and adventure.
Our Pioneer Packages are for those who want a fantastic Danish nature experience, staying in the more primitive campsites along the Gudenåen river. You get close to nature and stay in a 4-person igloo tent, which is included in the package price.
Our Luxury Packages are for those who prefer a first-class stay with a 3-course menu and accommodation in a beautiful double room, plus a delicious breakfast buffet the following day. We collaborate with Radisson Blu Hotel and Hotel Dania, both located in Silkeborg. We also work with Svostrup Kro and Kongensbro Kro, both located along the banks of the river Gudenå.

Flexible end location, Car transport & Cancellation
With us, you can always change your final destination by phone until 12.00 noon on the last day of your sailing. This gives you the opportunity to customise your trip according to your wishes.
We also offer car transport from specific start and end locations on our own car trailer. You can safely leave your car with us, and it will be moved by our highly professional driver in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. Please note that we do not offer car transport from all start and end locations...
As the only canoe and kayak rental company on Gudenåen, you can purchase a cancellation option with us if you are unable to go on your planned canoe or kayak trip or canoe holiday. For only a small part of the total amount, you are protected against bad weather, illness or unfortunate planning. If you choose not to purchase the extra cancellation option, our standard cancellation policy applies.
